MAA Resident Resources
MAA Takes Pride in Helping Residents through COVID
MAA is committed to delivering superior service and value for our residents. Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, MAA has supported our impacted residents in need of assistance by:
In addition to rent assistance and resources, MAA:
MAA has not requested nor directly received federal COVID-19 relief funding.
Throughout the pandemic, we are especially proud to have continued our support and care of our special MAA guests – the families in our Open Arms program. During 2020, through the Open Arms Foundation, we provided 14,300 nights of furnished housing at no charge to 114 families receiving long-term critical medical care treatment away from home.
Our ability to assist those who depend on us and meet our obligations relies on continued rent payments. We are thankful for our residents who make our business possible and to our associates whose resilience and positivity create a Brighter View at MAA even in the most challenging of times.
What To Do If You Are Suffering A Financial Hardship Due To COVID-19
If you are suffering financial hardship due to lost wages or compensation because of the COVID-19 pandemic, we will make options available to meet your payment obligations under the terms of your lease agreement. Even though there are limits on evictions, you are still obligated to pay your rent and honor your lease. Please reach out to the Leasing Office for information on options that may be available to you.
If you are not facing financial hardship related to COVID-19, thank you for continuing to make the payments required by your lease. We rely on your payments to meet our commitment to help those financially impacted by the pandemic and allow our dedicated associates to continue to deliver exceptional service during these trying times to all residents, both those who have been financially impacted and those who have been fortunate to avoid losing their job or compensation.
Your rent payments allow us to pay things like property taxes, which support the community through financing for schools, teachers, emergency services and other important local needs, and help with ongoing maintenance costs for the property such as utilities and insurance. We also rely on your rent payments to invest in the property for roof and HVAC replacement and other important repairs to ensure quality housing and pay our mortgage and other debt costs.
Daily Reminders
Social distancing
Our leasing offices are open. If you can, please contact us via phone, email, or our resident portal. We encourage you to make an appointment to keep the number of people in the office to a minimum. If you are a vulnerable individual and would like to have an in-person conversation but would like to stay in your apartment, please call us. We will arrange a visit and have a conversation at the doorway of your apartment. You will notice that we have taken a number of steps to protect your health and well-being and that of our associates while in the office. In accordance with CDC guidance, we have:
Protect yourself
We encourage you to follow the CDC Guidelines on health and hygiene. In particular, wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based sanitizer that is at least 60% alcohol. Avoid close contact with sick people. Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth. Stay home if you are sick. Avoid shaking hands and cover your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze. Practice social distancing and keep at least 6 feet of space between you and other people.
Be considerate of others
Do not risk getting your friends and neighbors sick. While in common areas, please practice appropriate social distancing by keeping at least 6 feet between yourself and others. Wear a cloth face mask to help prevent the spread of droplets when you sneeze, cough or speak. You can find information from the CDC on making cloth face masks at www.cdc.gov. If you or a member of your household is experiencing symptoms of illness, please do not enter common areas.
Let us know about quarantine situations
If you choose to self-quarantine because you are experiencing symptoms, are diagnosed with COVID-19, or have been in close contact with an individual with COVID-19, please notify us immediately. We will be supportive in this situation and take the necessary preventive steps, such as closing common areas for cleaning, as appropriate.
Use the resident portal
We have a robust resident portal through which you can enter maintenance requests, pay rent, and renew your lease. Using the resident portal is a very convenient way to communicate and transact business with MAA, and we highly recommend that you login to the resident portal to enter maintenance requests as well as pay your rent to avoid the need to bring a check by the office. You can access the portal at www.myMAA.com.
